I GOT CHASED out of Munchkinville in Palm Springs by a VERY ANGRY homeowner!!
On my walk today, in the Araby Cove neighborhood, I finally discovered what I believe are the hand-made stone homes, built by R. Lee Miller in the 1920s and '30s. Locals often refer to them as the Munchkinville homes.
Unfortunately, one of the owners was not happy to see me and screamed at me to leave!

Walmart in Palm Springs is now using COMPOSTABLE BAGS instead of plastic bags

It's January, 2025 and I'm happy to see that Walmart in Palm Springs is already using COMPOSTABLE bags in the produce section, instead of plastic bags. The California ban on plastic bags in grocery stores doesn't go into effect until 2026, so I glad to see that our Walmart in Palm Springs is ahead of the curve. Compostable bags are supposed to be much better than plastic bags for the environmen...

Переглядів 1,9 тис.День тому
It's January 23, 2025 and I just filled up my car with gas at our local Walmart in Palm Springs, CA. My Gas Buddy app said its the cheapest gas in Palm Springs today. The funny thing is, the filling station sign says one price, the app has another price and the pump is a different price. I paid $3.89 per gallon. Please feel free to share your local gas prices with me in the comments section.
Extreme runner TOMASZ SOBANIA makes a pit stop in Palm Springs, CA

While filling up with gas at our local Walmart gas station, I happened to notice an RV parked in the Walmart parking lot, that grabbed my attention. It turned out to belong to Tomasz Sobania, aka The Polish Forrest Gump, who is currently running from New York to Los Angeles. I haven't heard anything about his run on our local news stations, but it appears that he and/or his team have made a pit...

GRAFFITI in Palm Springs?
Переглядів 1,8 тис.14 днів тому
The city of Palm Springs, California has a Graffiti HOTLINE where anyone can call to have graffiti removed immediately. That's why graffiti rarely lasts anywhere in the city for more than an hour or two. The exception is Graffiti Park, downtown, in front of the art museum, where the city allows and even encourages graffiti artists to express themselves. Today's video is a walk around this park ...

It's the third week of 2025 and my total came to $80.38, shopping at Walmart in Palm Springs. This week I checked out the prices of items that I rarely, if ever, buy. I know they are a staple of most buyer's groceries each week, though. We are lucky to be able to save by not buying these items. Visiting the famous SHAG HOUSE in Palm Springs, CA
Such interesting houses! I guess I can understand that they get fed up with people trespassing but it seems a shame to be like that to someone who is asking politely and not just walking over without permission
Awesome architecture and landscape, thank you.
Born 1955, people were kinder. Thanks for the tour, very interesting. Money creates greed. Greed feeds hate. Hate feeds fear. I wish I had your healthy lungs. 😊
Who would want to live in such a miserably, ugly place? Looks like a homeless camp or something in a 3rd world country. They ruined that beautiful land with all that junk. That woman likely thought that you were cruising up there. That runner had a decent ass on him
Maybe she was so mean & nasty because she doesn't want strangers walking around or on her property. It looks like a very secluded area & you can't trust people anymore. People scope out your home & them go back lster and rob & steal from you. Just in the last month, I've had my cell pbone stolen, my food from uber stolen off my porch, & my neighbor had his car stolen from in front of his house. I'm having security cameras installed now. I can only imagine how scary living in such a secluded place would be, especially if you're a weman alone or elderly. Just a thought.
I’d say you met the one grumpy person in the Cove! lol It’s a tight-knit community and overall very welcoming. I hope your next visit is a more pleasant one.
I just noticed an interesting article that two Munchkinville homes are for sale. First time in 45 years. >>> 'Historic Palm Springs Araby rock homes for sale for the first time in 45 years' <<< By Tessa McLean. :>)
Nasty people is becoming an epidemic of its own. You weren't hurting anything. I guess she didn't know that but she didn't have to be mean
While watching this, I read this in the Wall Street Journal : Inside the Wealthy California Enclave So Secretive People Barely Know It Exists With no lawns or mailboxes, Smoke Tree Ranch has long drawn some of America’s richest families to its Wild West feel and inconspicuous, ranch-style homes
Found this in a Google search: be advised there is no public access to the rock houses and the local residents are quick to call police on intruders. The best way to get a glimpse of R. Lee Miller's creation is from the Araby wash or the levee behind the Smoke Tree Commons shopping center, which is on Highway 111 east of Palm Springs' downtown. For a closer look, you can book a stay in Julie Kay Rupp's round house, an R. Lee Miller creation that is now a vacation rental.
thanks Steve that was really interesting.
If it is private property, it is her responsibility to demarcate it, fence it, post signs, etc. so that the public know not to intrude. If it's not 'clearly' demarcated and she has intruders, it's her fault!
Sometimes, I think about retiring to a place with better weather -- but I am afraid to leave the network of decent people in which I currently reside. I see that kindness is becoming obsolete, and I don't care to be a!one, disabled, and surrounded by cruelty. Even if it involved no more ice or snow.
The house was sold last summer, so yes it is privately owned.
Looked up the owner’s name online of the houses - appears to be a self-employed event business owner and she looks very friendly….
The world has changed and people are very different ! I do believe the kind people outweigh the nasty ones , the nasty ones are just louder and stand out from the kind ones ! Really fun tour , thanks for taking us with you !
I think people got hateful during the pandemic IMO.
Thanks with all the other junk going on around us, your video was great, to bad like you said people just can’t still be friendly, however with the times we seem to be entering, strangers with video might give some appreciation. That being said, I love your videos thank you. ❤
lovely walk in Araby Cove, nature trail, beautiful historic stone houses ; I grew up in 70s 80s when folks were respectful kind, the world sure has changed alot since
Steve your a kind and thoughtful person. Even if you tried to be unkind you could never be mean to people. Thank you for being who you are.
Eggs for $11. I live near Coeur d’Alene ID and I got eggs from Costco w4 count for under $10.00. Our 2024 POTUS had a bunch of chickens killed therefore the egg prices are out of sight
I am sorry you had to deal with such rude behaviour. I wou!d say if only they knew what a sweet person you were....but sadly the climate of today no one cares how nice one is. Interesting walk though, thanks for the look!❤
Wealthy women are always the worst. Lol
Just be glad she didn’t shoot you. Now a days people are off the rails.
Was this home owner 3 ft tall?😂
We find Palm Springs one of the most HETEROPHOBIC cities in America. I and my friends have never seen so much hatred thrown at straight people , from dining out to finding an Airbnb . There are those who actually feel this is justified ( believe it or not) . We believe heterophobia is just as strange as homophobia. I hope Palm Springs has some self-reflection on this matter.
We have a large farm in a very rural area. Our driveway is 1/2 mile long and there are no through roads on our property. If someone I don’t know came walking up our driveway, I wouldn’t want them to. But I would walk down to meet them and ask them if I could help them. They could just be in the wrong place or be having car trouble. Who knows? You don’t go out and start yelling at someone. Politeness costs nothing, but tells a lot about you.
Sorry you ran into a mean lady Steve. She could post a "No Trespassing" sign if she's that upset about people walking up into the area. Thanks for the video on the hand-made stone homes. I'm not sure I'd like to live in one but they did look pretty neat.
That was a nice tour . Some great views . Take care out there 🤠🌵🌾
The U.S is a hateful 😢country. Just. Look at the government, and religion in the US!!
Mr Steve, you and are worlds apart in age and we probably have different beliefs. But Mr Steve I still believe there are kind people out there. I’m a Christian and I believe we should all be kind to one another. My Savior loves us all no matter what. He just doesn’t love the sin we do. But it is none of our place to judge one another. Your sins are no different than mine. I pray that the Lord bless you always. Be kind when no one else is. One day they will regret not being kind to others.
Have any of those bolders fallen on anything?!!!
Wow! All those psalm trees are fantastic!! Thanks for taking us through the neighborhood!! Never mind that hateful woman!!
😂 The cranky lady should know what a nice guy you are 😂. She's probably paranoid and reclusive .
I agree that people are a lot nastier than when I grew up in the 70s and 80s. I feel like society in Seattle was very nice and friendly through the 90s. Now it’s just so full of nasty, selfish people (and a lot of other nastiness). Thanks for bringing us along on your hike, Steve 😀
Steve, please dont let that person discourage you. I still believe in mankind. I still believe in the kindness of most. You are a wonderful person. I've watched you for years. God bless you.❤
Steve you need to invest in some good hiking boots bro
Dude you rock that hike, I'm afraid of heights so that would not be a hike I would take but it's great scenery
Hope this comment doesn't double post. I tried once already. :) Julie Kay Rupp owns the round house and had it restored. She now rents it out as an AirBnb. I tried to link it for you so let me know if you'd like the URL for it as including the link may have caused my comment to be auto-moderated.
Hello Steve; As a property owner adjacent to a decent-sized National park in the Santa Monica Mountains, our solution is to fence, gate, and seclude our property with high bushes and cactus. We got tired of trespassers, folks leaving litter and dog poop, and others wanting to use our roadway as a shortcut. Some even used to bang on the door demanding use of our telephone. Too many of the public act like asses, are rude, and disrespectful of private property. Perhaps the angry woman feels the same.
I do think people are more mean and cruel these days. Glad you are one of the good guys. Keep posting and stay positive. Enjoy your videos very much
We've gone backwards Steve. Manners, respect, even clothing! People don't even push their chair back in when they've finished with it. Little thing's, but it all adds up.
The houses are absolutely beautiful. And to answer your question I don't know when people started getting so ignorant I found working with geriatrics that some people as they get older they get nastier😂😂😂😂😂 I guess that gives me something to look forward to
Steve, your just lucky you just got a verbal scolding, you could have gotten closer to the stone dwellings and heard the arming "Click" of a double-barreled shotgun ! (LoL) Something about the vast open spaces of the Desert, plenty of land compared to other areas one would imagine, although those landowners sure take there " No Trespassing " signs seriously. I saw one sign that just read " My Dog can reach the front gate faster than you can "
There are still good guys around and you are definitely one of them! Keep being kind and don’t get discouraged.
I have found over the years that’s it’s far easier for me to take my pills with food. They go right down and quite easy. The only one I am not supposed to take with food is Atorvastatin, cholesterol pill. But yes, I did have a half split Naproxen get stuck in my throat. Hours later it felt like was having a heart attack. I ended up in the ER but by then the pill had dissolved and I was not having a heart attack.
The Sprouts near me carry the compostable bags. I guess it’s a new wave now.
Thanks for everything, Steve.
Thank you! :-)
Hi Steve! Growing up in Anaheim in the early 60s thru ‘70s, people back then were indeed friendlier. We were brought up to be respectful of others. Our neighbors were like family. Today, I come across so many rude and entitled people. Just driving around the OC there are so many rude drivers. Society has changed and unfortunately not for the better. Still in OC all these years later and a move to Orange back in the late 70’s, luckily the neighbors around me are friendly and extremely nice.
From the title I was hoping to see you filming a shot of you running with the camera in front and behind you we could see the mean woman running after saying, "Don't let me catch you" while we see a sly grin on your face. Anyway, nice views and be careful!
